About Srila Prabhupada

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is the founder and greatest exponent in the Hare Krishna Movement. He was born in Calcutta, India in 1896 and is widely regarded as the foremost Vedic scholar, publishing many renowned books such as the Bhagavad-Gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Caitanya Caritamrta and many more pricessless books full of trancendental knowlege.

Srila Prabhupada was predicted by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who is non-different than god himself 500 years ago that a powerful spiritual ambassador will carry His message to every town and village. In the year 1922, Srila prabhupada met his spiritual master Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Goswami who instructed him to preach this Krsna consciousness all over the world. He took the instructions of his spiritual master very seriously as his life and soul which prompted him to  travel from Calcutta to New York City in 1965 at the age of 69.

He then spent the remaining 12 years converting thousands into Vaisnavism, establishing 108 temples in nearly every major city of the world and has given the world a storage of vast knowlege in the form of books.
